Abilene Christian Wildcats Women's Basketball Advances to WNIT Round 2
The Abilene Christian Wildcats women's basketball team is making its first postseason appearance in four years, having qualified for the 2025 Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). After winning their opening game against Northwestern State, the Wildcats (21-12) will face the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears (23-9) on Monday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Farris Center in Conway, Arkansas. This marks ACU's first WNIT participation since 2021 and their fifth postseason appearance since joining Division I in 2023. Head coach Julie Goodenough, who has an 8-7 record against Central Arkansas, will lead the team into this matchup. Recently, ACU has performed well, winning six of their last seven games against the Sugar Bears, although they lost the most recent encounter in February 2021. The Wildcats are aiming to continue their momentum and secure a spot in the third round of the tournament, where they would compete against either Western Illinois or Illinois State. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+ or listen on 101.7 FM The Patriot.
